Krups 654-75 WaffleChef 4-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker Specifications
This sleek, chrome-finished Krups Belgian waffle maker makes four delicious, deep-pocket Belgian waffles in just four minutes--and the nonstick-coated plates make cleanup easy. A "ready" light indicates when the machine is preheated and set for baking. When your waffle maker first arrives, just wipe the plates clean with a damp sponge, grease them lightly with butter, margarine, or cooking spray, and heat. After seasoning, you can make several batches of waffles without any sticking. The machine stands upright for easier storage.
The thicker batter that's used for making Belgian waffles makes them crispier on the outside. For a dessert with the taste of the carnival midway, try putting a slice of ice cream (natural strawberry works well) between two waffles. --Irene Svete

Customer Review
Read the reviews carefully on this and similar products before selecting the Krups. Very happy with this one. We wore out our Vitantonio 2-waffle Belgian waffler after about 11 years. My daughter is a waffle fiend and we make them about twice a week, freezing the extras for later (Eggo's got nothing on us). Nice to have the four waffle capacity. Yes, the handle gets hot, but come on--it's a waffle maker. Besides, there is a latch you can grab on to. Only downside I would say is that unlike all the waffle irons I've used in the past, this one doesn't notify you when it's done with the lights. You have to set a 4-minute timer.
Did not stand the test of time - A. Brice - Keller, TX
We've had this waffle iron for about 7 years... we don't use it that often because it's such a pain to clean! I try to stand it on edge next to the sink and use a sponge to get in all the grooves - I never put it in the sink or soak the whole thing with water... but I suppose at some point water got into the electrical components because it does not work reliably anymore. The machine clicks on and off while baking and the waffles do not come out that great anymore. I do not know a better way to clean it!! The batter pours all over the sides (even when you're trying to be careful not to over-fill) and it does not "wipe up" easily as they suggest in the product description. The batter has even seeped out the back and coated the electrical cord. I am now looking for a new one with removable plates.
When it worked well, the waffles were delicious! But I like to save my reviews for products I have owned for a long time... this one did not prove to be a good buy in the long run.
Good waffles but difficult to clean - avidreader -
We have owned this waffle maker for about 7 or 8 years. It does make really tasty waffles, but is SO difficult to clean. Batter gets trapped in all the crevices and it has no overflow catch whatsoever. We always put down foil or paper underneath it, but batter still goes everywhere. After this many years, yet with VERY infrequent use, stuff is trapped pretty much permanently in many of the crevices since it cannot be submerged to clean--and frankly it has gotten pretty gross. I once tried taking it apart to clean more thoroughly, but this does not appear to be possible, at least not in a way that I feel confident about being able to put it back together again.
This past year the ready lights became damaged (the red light fell back into the inside of the machine so now you can only see the green) so we are on the lookout for a new waffle maker and I can say for sure the replacement will not be a Krups brand one. (In general we've found Krups appliances to be pretty mediocre, especially considering the price.)
Difficult to clean - F. Conaci -
This Krups iron is difficult to clean due to the locations of the hinges and the lack of a drip edge. However it does cook evenly, which is difficult to find in a square or rectangular waffle iron.
